Hellens - A Winning Team

The Hellens Group are celebrating winning contracts worth over £15m since the New Year making the outlook bright for 2007. Group turnover is on course to increase by over 50% from £20m in 2006 to in excess of £30m for 2007. Following a number of contract wins the contracting arm of the Group, Hellens Contracts, have an order book for the coming financial year which is already equal to the turnover for 2006 and includes key contract wins both regionally and nationally. The development arm, Hellens Development, is celebrating equal successes after winning planning approval for both its current and future head office sites.

During the last four weeks Hellens Contracts have been awarded the demolition of the former Tyne Brewery by a consortium of City of Newcastle, One Northeast and Newcastle University to pave the way for the construction of a new Science Park. Outside the region a £4.5m hard landscaping contract has been secured with the University of Manchester. The prestigious scheme will be the focal point of the redevelopment of the main campus.

In addition, Hellens Contracts has won work with house builders Persimmon. The work includes brownfield site reclamation, civil engineering and construction works at the former Corus site in Stockton.

Hellens Sport, the sports facility construction arm of the Company has secured contracts for 2007 which include the construction of a new indoor sports facility for Blue Flames Sports Club in Longbenton and the construction of an all weather training pitch for Hitchin Town Football Club.

The development arm of the Group, Hellens Development, is enjoying equal success after being given the go ahead to develop the former Cape Insulation Site, on the Pattinson Estate in Washington. The Group is now set to utilise its reclamation, civil engineering, construction and landscaping skills to transform the 40 acre brownfield site in to a major mixed use development comprising office and industrial units, residential and a retail scheme. Hellens hope to relocate their head office to the development within the next twelve months.
