This contract was the first phase of the reclamation and development of the former ICI farmland site to create a wetland nature reserve, comprising mainly of the following work items:

Site clearance

Reshaping of a former waste tip with provision of cover materials to reduce water ingress and provide a growing medium for landscaping

Creation of wet/flooded grassland by excavating ditches
and cutting off land drainage outlets

Sluices and ditch crossings were installed
to enable regulation of water levels

Creation of an extension to the existing lakes
as well as construction of a new lake

Topsoiling and reed planting
