Access Roads & Long stay car park construction.

Hellens Contracts constructed a new 61,000m² car parking area, with a 7000m² access/exit road system and associated landscaping at Newcastle International Airport. The area was modified from existing agricultural land to provide a high security car parking facility.

Specific activities included:

Installation of a new surface water drainage system
outfalling into a newly constructed attenuation lagoon.

Construction of hard surfacing and erection of security fencing.

All electrical works including a network of permanent accessible ducts
and associated highway lighting and signage, along with closed circuit
television and anti intruder alarms.

Treatment of existing mine workings and shafts
by means of grouting and laying of surface geogrids.

Construction of a new 3,000m² staff car park
to the north of the main terminal building.

Alteration works to allow the operation of larger coaches to ferry
passengers between the terminal and courtesy bus shelters
situated around the car park.
